Asda Morley: First look inside newly upgraded Leeds superstore after £50m UK investment
Asda has unveiled a first look at its newly upgraded Leeds store.
Asda shoppers in Leeds will now be able to enjoy new in store services and features, after the retailer completed upgrading the Asda Morley Superstore as part of a £50million investment across 170 stores in the UK.
As part of a program announced in June to improve the shopping experience for customers, 50 larger stores will receive major upgrades – with these changes having already been made to the Morley store. Upgrades include:

- The addition of new modern fixtures, graphics and feature lighting to the George department
- A new foyer design and revamp
- New seasonal aisles
- Enhancing the look and feel of the optical department
- New look counters
- Parcel services and drop-off points
- New flooring and lighting
As part of the wider programme, all 170 stores (including the Morley store) will receive refreshed exterior and interior decoration.
These stores will also receive re-decorated trolley bays, new signage, improved toilet facilities and exterior landscaping work.
Ian Brackenbury, Senior Director of Construction and Implementation, at Asda, said: “Customer experience is always a priority for us, and we regularly look at how we can enhance stores to meet the needs of our shoppers.
“Through this significant investment, we are bringing new and exciting services to customers while also upgrading the existing components of our established stores.
“This enhancement program reflects our commitment to providing the best possible experience for our customers, as we continue on our journey to grow and invest in the business to ensure long term success.”

As part of the retailer’s strategic focus on growing the business, Asda continues to invest in both upgrading its existing estate and growing its store footprint.
Following the strategic acquisitions of sites from EG Group, Co-op and Leon, Asda now operates a total estate of more than 1,000 UK stores for the first time in its 59-year history.
Since acquiring Asda in June 2021, the shareholders have invested more than £3.5bn to transform the business into a diversified retail group with a significant presence in the high growth convenience and food service markets.
