Yeadon care home to host food festival for local community
With festival season officially under way, a care home in Yeadon is welcoming the community for a fun-filled day of food and celebration.
On Thursday August 6, 5-7pm, Care UK’s Weavers Court will open its doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.
Visitors to the Naylor Avenue home can look forward to feasting on a variety of home-made cuisine, including freshly made burgers from a gourmet burger truck, international street food and refreshing summer treats.
Vera May, resident at Weavers Court, said “My favourite childhood memory is helping my mum bake apple pie every Sunday, so it’s lovely that we can share those kinds of traditions with our community.”
The event is part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see Care UK homes across the country host foodie-themed celebrations and share what life in a care home is really like.
Each festival will showcase sustainable, community-focused initiatives while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.
