Avove colleagues deliver Easter donations to children and care teams

Avove colleagues working on the Northern Powergrid (NPG) framework have delivered Easter donations to children and care teams across Yorkshire, following a colleague led fundraising initiative that raised £555 for local hospitals, hospices and care settings.

Using the funds raised, colleagues purchased 358 Easter eggs, 15 multipacks of sweets and essential items requested directly through charity wish lists, including four children’s duvets. Five locations were visited in a single day to ensure donations reached where they were needed most.

The fundraising effort and delivery were organised by Stuart Watson, Regional Manager, who was joined on the day by Harrison Bowers, Arborist. Their route included York Children’s Hospital, Martin House Children’s Hospice in Wetherby, Adel Beck Children’s Secure Unit in Leeds, Daniel Yorath House in Garforth, and Sheffield Children’s Hospital, where donations were passed to the charity team.

At York Children’s Hospital, 60 Easter eggs were donated, with additional treats provided for nursing staff. Martin House Children’s Hospice received items sourced directly from its wish list to support children with complex needs. Further Easter eggs and treats were delivered to Adel Beck Children’s Secure Unit and Daniel Yorath House, where colleagues met staff and residents during what they described as one of the most humbling visits of the day.

The business supports community‑led initiatives across the regions in which it operates, with colleagues playing an active role in making a positive difference beyond day‑to‑day operational work.

Stuart Watson, initiative organiser and Regional Manager at Avove, commented: “This started as a simple fundraising idea, but it quickly became something much bigger. The generosity shown by colleagues was exceptional, and everyone was keen to make sure the money raised was used in a practical way that genuinely helped local children and care teams. Delivering the donations in person really brought home the impact of the effort and reinforced why supporting our communities matters.”

Harrison Bowers, Arborist at Avove, added: “It was a powerful day to be involved in. Through our everyday work we help keep power on in people’s homes, but this was a chance to step back and support our communities in a different way. Meeting the people who benefit from these donations made it very real, and it showed what can be achieved when people come together with a shared purpose.”

Avove continues to support community initiatives across its operational regions, working alongside colleagues and partners to make a meaningful contribution to the places where it works and lives.
