Coun Judith Blake, leader of Leeds City Council, said: “We’re delighted to share the news that Santa and his elves have skated into this year’s Christmas Experience and are ready and waiting to meet the region’s families.

“This time of year is always magical at Lotherton and we can’t wait to welcome people from across Yorkshire and beyond. The house is dressed in all its Edwardian finery, the carols are being sung and the Elf Village is sparkling with a hint of festive magic, we’ve also heard the fairies in the Dell are putting on a spectacular show this year. With the arrival of Santa, it’s all set to be a fantastic day out for all the family.”

The Christmas Experience will include seasonal favourites such as the Elf Village, the Enchanted Fairy Dell and the Twelve Days of Christmas Woodland Walk.

Exploring the house will transport visitors back in time, as they enjoy each room decked out in the traditional festive finery of an Edwardian Christmas.

And, of course, after testing out the ice, Santa has taken up residence in his very own North Pole, where little ones can help the elves in their workshop before visiting the man himself to share their festive wishes. While Santa’s weekend diary is almost fully booked, there is still good availability

The Christmas Experience is run by Lotherton and Breeze. which runs the successful Breeze on Tour and Mini Breeze events for children and young people in Leeds during the
