Leeds electronic duo Scenius announce new single 'On Balance' ahead of Midge Ure UK tour return

French-English electronic duo Scenius have announced their new single, ‘On Balance,’ set for release on November 13 alongside an accompanying music video.

The release lands just a week before the alternative outfit rejoins Ultravox and Visage legend Midge Ure for a second UK tour, following an extensive 21-date run across the country earlier this year.

Formed by producer Steve Whitfield - known for his past work with The Cure and Jah Wobble - and French vocalist Fabrice Nau, Scenius blend vintage synth textures and dark-wave grooves with analogue warmth.

Drawing comparisons to pioneering acts like Kraftwerk and Boards of Canada, the duo favour human feel and tactile hardware over digital perfection.

‘On Balance’ takes an unexpected thematic leap, drawing lyrical inspiration from fundamental particle physics - specifically the six "flavours" of subatomic quarks - to explore themes of human fragility and equilibrium.

Explaining the concept behind the single, the band said: "Since quarks are among the fundamental building blocks of matter, these six flavours ultimately define everything that exists for us—and yet, somehow, it all remains incredibly fragile.

“That’s the idea behind the chorus: ‘on balance, no balance’."

The single marks the first entry in a series of planned releases leading toward Scenius’s forthcoming third studio album, scheduled for arrival in spring 2027.

The autumn tour sees Scenius return to nine UK stages in late November alongside Midge Ure, giving audiences another chance to experience their live analogue setup.

Reflecting on the reception from their earlier dates, the duo added: "We had great encounters after the shows, with people coming up to us for a chat and often leaving with an album, sometimes all three.

Getting the chance to play these extra shows is a real blessing."

On Balance releases on Friday, November 13, ahead of Scenius's nine-date UK tour supporting Midge Ure and a new album in spring 2027, with updates available on Facebook, Instagram, and Spotify.
