Jean-Michel Jarre announces Leeds arena concert

Electronic music pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre is to perform at the First Direct Arena in Leeds.

The 67-year-old Frenchman’s concert in Leeds on Thursday October 13 is part of a seven-date arena tour of Britain and Ireland.

Famed for staggering visuals and the use of cutting-edge digital technology, which have been seen by millions of people around the world, Jarre promises “a truly immersive musical journey” with his new live show, which will showcase new music from his acclaimed two-part album, Electronica, alongside classic material from previous records such as Oxygene and Equinoxe.

Born in Lyon to a composer father and mother who was a heroine of the French Resistance, Jarre has sold more than 80 million albums during a 50-year career. His ground-breaking concerts in Paris, Houston, London’s Docklands and Moscow set world records for attendances. In 1981 he also became the first Western pop artist to perform live in China.
