Gig review: Marina and the Diamonds at O2 Academy Leeds
It was a fitting intro for singer Marina Diamandis who finally took the stage in a sparkling purple jumpsuit and mouse ears.
Leeds’ O2 Academy was filled with deafening high-pitched shrieks from her dedicated fans.

Hide AdDiamandis unleashed her full pop diva mode on a rainy Wednesday night in Leeds. Throughout the lengthy set, she stormed across the purple Astroturf stage with the confidence that comes with being an ‘out there’ pop star, while backed by a four-piece band towering above giant screens displaying animations such as emojis, love hearts and even a vintage Betty Boop.
Splitting her set into acts, she began with songs from her first album The Family Jewels, with her early singles such as I Am Not a Robot and Obsessions going down very well with the crowd.
Next up was Act Two, Electra Heart, and with that came some of her most popular songs such as Primadonna and How to Be a Heartbreaker and so it continued through her latest album Froot until her encore which saw Diamandis take to the stage to perform Happy and Blue.
