Workington Town 6 Featherstone Rovers 52: Rovers return to form with nine-try romp over Town

Jon Sharp’s men effectively had the game won by half-time when they were already 28-0 up following a strong showing in the opening 40 minutes. After narrow defeats in their last two games, Rovers were determined to bounce back and were ahead within four minutes when John Davies twisted in the tackle to force his way over.
Kyran Johnson kicked his first of eight goals and Featherstone were up and running and never to look back.

Scott Turner raced 80 metres for an interception try and as Workington had no answer to Rovers’ attacking play Danny Craven went over for another score to emphasise the visitors’ superiority before the break.
The dominance continued after the break when, within 10 seconds, Bradley Knowles-Tagg crossed the line.
A brief blip saw Workington hit back straight away through Brett Phillips, following Jarrod Sammut’s kick, with Carl Forber adding a conversion, but they were not to score again.

When Jamie Cording then raced over for another try seven minutes later it was effectively all over bar the shouting especially with Sammut in the sin-bin.
There was still time, though, for Davies to collect his second try and the last of Johnson’s goals completed a morale-boosting victory for Featherstone.
