West Yorkshire rugby league stalwarts support children's cancer charity after business opening
Two West Yorkshire rugby league stalwarts are supporting a children’s cancer charity through their new business.
Batley Bulldogs strength and conditioning coach Mark Barlow has teamed up with Castleford Tigers physio Tom Pearson to establish 40/20 Physiotherapy in Horbury, near Wakefield. Rather than a traditional grand opening of their premises in Cluntergate, the duo will host a coffee morning on Saturday, December 12, featuring Santa Claus, a DJ, food and refreshments.
All money raised will go to Candlelighters, who are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year. Barlow, who played in Super League with Wakefield Trinity before representing Dewsbury Rams, Halifax, Batley Bulldogs, York and Keighley Cougars - as well as having a stint in France for Lyon - said they were inspired by young fan Reece Yorston was diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) three years ago, aged just six.

Barlow said: “Reece faced an incredibly difficult two years of treatment, showing amazing strength and bravery throughout his journey. Now, he is approaching two years cancer-free - a milestone that means so much to Reece, his family, and everyone who has supported him along the way.”
