Wakefield Trinity v Leeds Rhinos - squads named for Super League rematch

Three rookies have been included in Leeds Rhinos’ squad for their rematch with Wakefield Trinity at Mobile Rocket Stadium, Belle Vue, on Sunday.

Teenagers Sam Walters and Jarrod O’Connor and on-loan Featherstone Rovers forward James Harrison have been called into Rhinos’ initial 21-man squad, along with Rhys Evans and Callum McLelland.

Rhinos are without Tom Holroyd for their fourth game in 10 days after he suffered a knock in Thursday’s 30-6 loss to Wakefield.

The club have confirmed Tom Briscoe, Konrad Hurrell, Matt Prior and Richie Myler are the players self-isolating after 13 Castleford Tigers players tested for Covid-19 following their defeat at Leeds on Monday.

James Donaldson - who did not play in Thursday's game - also drops out of Rhinos’ 21.

Trinity boss Chris Chester will also give some young players an opportunity with Jack Croft, Lee Kershaw, Yusuf Aydin, Connor Bailey and Harry Bowes all included in his initial squad.

Alex Walker, Ben Jones-Bishop and Chris Green could be recalled for Wakefield’s fourth game in 11 days.

Max Jowitt, who scored a first half hat-trick on Thursday, drops out, along with Reece Lyne, Bill Tupou and Tom Johnstone.
