Salford Red Devils v Leeds Rhinos: 21-man squads are named

Luke Gale will continue as skipper of Leeds Rhinos this weekend, with captain Stevie Ward and his deputy Rhyse Martin remaining on the sidelines.

Ward has not played since suffering concussion against Hull in Betfred Super League round one three weeks ago.

Martin sat out last week's victory over Hull KR following minor surgery and will be missing again.

That means Rhinos are likely to be unchanged, but Alex Sutcliffe, who can play in the second-row or at centre, comes into the squad for the first time this year, after recovering from a broken hand.

He is added to the 17 on duty last week and Rhys Evans, Callum McLelland and Tom Holroyd are also included in the initial 21.

Salford are without scrum-half Kevin Brown who begins a two-match ban.

Dan Sarginson, Lee Mossop and Josh Johnson also drop out from the 17 which lost to Huddersfield Giants last Friday.

Forward Oliver Roberts, signed this week on a season-long loan from Huddersfield, could make his debut.

Chris Atkin is set to take over from Brown and former Leeds forward Jack Ormondroyd could come into the team, alongside Krisnan Inu, Gil Dudson, Seb Ikahihifo, Mark Flanagan and Elliot Kear.
