Dewsbury Rams’ ‘home’ fixture with Bradford Bulls in the Betfred Championship will be staged there on Sunday, June 21, the same afternoon as a Betfred Super League derby between Rhinos and visitors Wakefield Trinity.

Rhinos had already confirmed two similar occasions for the 2020 season. In Super League round one, Toronto Wolfpack play Castleford Tigers on Sunday, February 2, ahead of Leeds’ meeting with Hull. And Toulouse Olympique and London Broncos will meet at Headingley in the Championship on Friday, August 7 (5.45pm), as a curtain-raiser to Rhinos against Catalans Dragons.

In addition, Leeds’ second away meeting of the year with Catalans, on May 30, will be played after the Championship battle between Olympique and Broncos at Stade Ernest Wallon in Toulouse. Rhinos say they also have plans to host some under-18s and reserve games at Headingley next year.

Kick-off times have yet to be confirmed, but Rhinos head of marketing Matt Adams said the Rams-Bulls derby will be a “great enhancement to our annual family day activities on June 21”. He said: “The addition of a Betfred Championship fixture between local rivals Dewsbury and Bradford will not only be an exciting spectacle, but also add value to our members, which I’m sure will be greatly received. We can promise a warm Emerald Headingley welcome for all the fans from Dewsbury and Bradford and hopefully two great games for the price of one.”

Bulls will ground-share at Rams’, Tetley’s Stadium next year. As the home team, Dewsbury season-ticket holders will be admitted to the double-header for free. Dewsbury will also provide free buses for all Rams fans.

A Dewsbury statement said: “We would like to thank Leeds Rhinos for the favourable gate-share arrangement they have proposed to the Rams. The management and coaching staff think this is a great opportunity to play at a Super League stadium and it gives an opportunity for many of our younger players to perform at one of the great venues in rugby league.”
