All Rhinos’ first-choice backs are fit and available and only forwards Tom Holroyd (knee), James McDonnell (hamstring) and Morgan Gannon (concussion/shoulder) remain on the casualty list. That means Smith has some tough decisions to make in the pack and on the bench as Rhinos seek just their third round one win since 2015. Here’s how Leeds could line up.

8. Prop: Mikolaj Oledzki
Missed the start of the 2023 season, but on course to be one of this week's starting front-rowers. Photo: Steve Riding
9. Hooker: Andy Ackers
Impressed in pre-season and is Rhinos' new first-choice acting-half. Photo: Steve Riding
10. Prop: Sam Lisone
With Tom Holroyd unavailable, this is Smith's first selection dilemma. Mickael Goudemand, Justin Sangare and James Donaldson all started at prop in pre-season, but Lisone may get the nod. Photo: James Hardisty
11. Second-row: James Bentley
In the squad for the first time since last August; Smith likes to bring players back from injury off the bench, but in round one when nobody's match ready - and with Leeds missing two second-rowers - Bentley is an obvious option to start. Photo: Allan McKenzie/SWpix.com
12. Second-row: Rhyse Martin
Likely to revert to the pack this year after spending much of last season at centre. Photo: Steve Riding
