Leeds Rhinos coach Brad Arthur says 'we let club down' v Wigan Warriors as Lachie Miller injury update given

Boss Brad Arthur admitted Leeds Rhinos let themselves and the club down in their 40-8 drubbing by Wigan Warriors on Saturday.

Rhinos have dropped two points behind new leaders Wigan with just one round remaining in the regular Betfred Super League season. To make matters worse, Rhinos lost star full-back Lachie Miller to what could be a long-term hamstring injury.

“I’m disappointed, we didn’t put our best foot forward,” Arthur said in his post match press conference. “It was a big occasion for the club; not through effort, but we let ourselves down and let the club down.

“It’s certainly not over, we’ve got to dust ourselves off. We’ve got a big game next week and we’ve got to regain some form. It’s important we play well.”

Miller lasted just seven minutes before suffering hamstring damage and the fear post-game was he may be sidelined for the rest of the season. Arthur revealed he had been playing with a fractured eye socket and the plan had been to rest him against Hull next Friday.

“Lachie’s not great,” he revealed. “He’s got to go and have scans, but I don’t think it’s just a strain - I think he has torn his hamstring, but we’ll have to wait and see until he’s had scans to confirm that.”

Arthur accepted the early loss was a disruption, though he didn’t use it as an excuse.

He added: “It’s hard to replace a player of his quality and it’s hard to replace a full-back, he’s so integral to your defensive line and the organisation of that and how he returns the ball. We were a bit disjointed from it, but we’ve got to be a bit more resilient.”
