Hunslet player delivers for Leeds hospice

Ashton, who made the delivery to the hospice in Headingley, said: “Express Electrical and I are always looking at ways in which we can help the community.

Hunslet has developed a place in my heart and the club has a great connection with the hospice.

“As a small company we rely on local loyal businesses to keep us afloat and that’s why we want to give a little back.”

Meanwhile, Aussie Paul White - now chief executive of NRL giants Brisbane Broncos - has been presented with a heritage certificate following his spell at Hunslet 30 years ago.

The centre scored 13 tries in 20 games during the 1990-91 campaign, when Elland Road-based Hunslet finished mid-table in Division Two.

Players’ agent Justin Smallshaw, who is from Leeds, made the presentation on behalf of the club.

Hunslet have raised more than £1,600 in orders for a new training top dedicated to the NHS.

The blue tops feature the ‘NHS heroes’ rainbow,

Hunslet are trialling a pay television package - featuring their 2014 promotion final win - as a way of generating income for the club during the coronavirus shutdown.
