Richardson has made a blistering start to his Tigers career and bagged his first try - as well as six goals from as many attempts - in last week’s 28-8 win at Hull KR.

But he reckons he will be better when the rain and wind stops, as will his half-back partnership with Jake Trueman.

Having been battered by a succession of storms over the first month of the campaign, Richardson reflected: “I’ve forgotten what it’s like to play in normal weather!

“The quicker summer comes along the better for me.”

Richardson’s combination with Trueman is developing with every game, but faces a tough test at Warrington Wolves on Friday.

“I am happy with how it’s going,” Richardson added.

“I feel like the past couple of weeks we’ve scored points at will and when the dry weather comes around I think you’ll see us flourishing a bit more.

“At this time of the year it’s not too much about fancy plays, it’s about grinding out wins.

“We are doing it the hard way at times and when the weather gets better I think you’ll see the best of me and Truey.”

Tigers briefly went top of the table following the win at Hull KR, but have since dropped to second, behind Wigan Warriors on points difference.

“We are four from five and we couldn’t have asked for a better start,” Richardson said. “We had a bit of a hic-up at Catalans, but if we’d been offered that at the start of the year we’d have taken it. We’ve had a good start and we’re looking forward to cracking on for the rest of the year now.”

Tigers have trailed at half-time in each of their past two wins, before keeping their opponents scoreless in the final 40. Richardson admitted: “Obviously it would be nice to control the full game, but that’s rugby league.

“You don’t always get your own way and the past couple of weeks we’ve shown that if we go behind we can come back and get the job done.”

Of breaking his try duck last week, Richardson said: “It is always nice to score.

“I have had it in the back of my mind that it’d been four games and I hadn’t scored so I wanted to get that out of the way.”
