'A great loss': Readers pay tribute to 'true gent' Geoff Burrow after Leeds Rhinos announce death
Readers have paid tribute and shared their condolences following the death of “true Yorkshire gent” Geoff Burrow.
The father of Leeds Rhinos legend Rob Burrow died following a period of ill health, the rugby league club confirmed on Monday (March 30).
Leeds-born Geoff was an avid Rhinos fan and instilled that love in his son; taking Rob to his first game before overseeing and encouraging his rise to becoming a legend at Headingley Stadium.

Geoff also stepped up after Rob was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2019; helping raise millions over the years towards research into the degenerative illness.
Following Rob’s death in 2024 Geoff continued to work tirelessly and was able to be there at the official opening of the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease at Seacroft Hospital last year.
He was also a long-standing member of staff at GMB Union and was a “a champion for those who did not have a voice”.
