Young Leeds United forward heads for season-long loan in Spain

YOUNG Leeds United forward Rafa Mujica has joined Spanish Segunda Division side Real Oviedo on loan until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old forward had spells out on loan last season with fellow Spanish sides Extremadura UD and Villarreal CF.

Leeds signed Mujica after his release from Barcelona in July 2019 with the attacker signing a three-year deal initially running until the summer of 2022.

Then 20, the forward joined Leeds having featured 33 times for Barcelona’s B team the previous season, netting seven goals.

Mujica then featured twice under Whites head coach Marcelo Bielsa in United's pre-season friendlies against York City and Tadcaster Albion before being sent on a season-long loan to Spanish Segunda División side Extremadura UD the following month.

Mujica then returned to Leeds in January before being sent back out on loan to Villarreal.

Mujica has played for Spain's under-19s, under-18s, and under-17s.

The forward said in April that he still had hopes of playing for Leeds.
