In what is likely to be a tough period for many clubs up and down the country due to the impact of the coronavirus, former Whites stars will also find themselves in uncertain positions.
Here, out of interest, we've rounded up the ex-Leeds players believed to be out-of-contract next month. Would you like to see any of these back at Elland Road?
7. Adam Clayton
Like Howson, Clayton, 31, is on course to leave Middlesbrough after six years, unless contract discussions are held soon.
8. Andy Lonergan
The 36-year-old would not have been mistaken for thinking his move to Liverpool was a prank. Sadly though, it doesnt appear that he will be staying at Anfield for a second year.
9. Paul Green
It looks as though the 37-year-old Irishman is departing with a promotion to add to his CV with Crewe Alexandra on course to be crowned champions of League Two.
10. Aaron Lennon
Lennon, who started his career at Leeds, is free to leave Burnley next month with no discussions held over extending his stay at Turf Moor into a third season.
11. Matthew Pennington
Pennington signed a new contract at Everton following his loan spell with Leeds in 2018 but it seems he has failed to live up to his promise.
12. Alan Sheehan
The 33-year-old left Luton Town in January and signed a short term deal with Lincoln City, though nothing has suggested that will be extended.
