Rennes 'set sights' on second Leeds United star after Glen Kamara move and £42m PSG 'offer'
Stade Rennais are completed the signing of Glen Kamara on Tuesday and reports suggest the French club could now turn focus to his Elland Road teammate, Crysencio Summerville.
Kamara’s move to Rennes was confirmed late on Tuesday evening with the midfielder undergoing medical tests in France earlier this week, following the agreement of a fee believed to be in the region of £8million. Leeds are close to doubling the money they spent when signing the Finland international from Rangers less than 12 months ago, with those in charge taking the opportunity at banking a decent profit.

Hide AdRennes were interested in Kamara last summer and look to have finally got their man, but the Ligue 1 outfit might be minded to maintain contact with Leeds as outlets in France report of interest in Summerville. Foot Mercato claim Rennes have ‘set their sights’ on the 22-year-old but face stiff competition from four Premier League teams.
Rennes’ reported interest in Summerville comes as a result of speculation over the future of their own star, Désiré Doué, who is expected to make the step up to a top European club after two seasons of first-team football with his current club. The 19-year-old is thought to be on the radar of Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, with the latter reportedly submitting a recent offer worth €50m (£42m).
Rennes are anticipating Doué’s likely departure and so are reportedly weighing up replacements in preparation, which will in theory allow them to pull the trigger on potential targets if the teenager leaves as expected. There is no suggestion that contact has been made with Summerville, or that the Dutchman has come up in talks between them and Leeds over Kamara’s move.

Hide AdChelsea are the only named Premier League club keeping an eye on Summerville but other reports have linked Liverpool, Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and Aston Villa with interest in the winger. Foot Mercato claim a move for the Leeds man will cost more than €20m - those in charge at Elland Road might respond that it would take a lot more, with valuations closer to home ranging between £30-40m.
Leeds will hold firm on their own valuation and the YEP understands they are no longer actively looking to sell, having received the cash injection they needed via the £40m sale of Archie Gray to Tottenham earlier this month. That being said, further departures have not been ruled out and as has happened with Kamara, the club will consider offers they deem appropriate for players they had previously planned to keep.
Leeds have extensively scouted potential replacements in wide positions, having anticipated early summer interest in Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto, who has recently been linked with a move to Everton again following last summer’s rejected bids. But nothing concrete has materialised regarding either, with interest yet to progress into formal approaches or bids.
