Leeds United fell at the final hurdle of their Championship promotion race but can reflect on an excellent campaign this summer. Daniel Farke’s side racked up 90 points over 46 games, producing more than their fair share of outstanding performances and thrilling moments.
Leeds brought plenty of quality down with them from the Premier League but Farke was able to mould the team through a host of shrewd signings, pulling players in from top teams across Europe and taking advantage of loan options. But the recruitment process was not perfect and fans were left wanting more at times.
Overall, through the summer and January windows, Leeds welcomed 10 new players through the door and the YEP has attempted to rate each one out of 10. Take a look below to see if you agree.

1. Ethan Ampadu: 9
The £7m arrival from Chelsea was a statement of intent as Leeds' first summer signing and looked a bargain from the off. Started all 49 Championship games including play-offs and played more minutes than anyone else. Comfortable in midfield or defence and a natural captain in the absence of Pascal Struijk. | Getty Images

2. Karl Darlow: 4
Was expected to provide genuine competition for Illan Meslier after his £400,000 move from Newcastle United but played just two league games. Hampered by a thumb injury. Experience could well have been helpful for Meslier behind the scenes. | Getty Images

3. Sam Byram: 7
Proved his fitness during a pre-season trial period and looked like the best value-for-money signing during early months, given he cost nothing. Injuries returned towards the end of the campaign but versatile full-back was a much-needed older head and steady defensive option throughout. | Getty Images

4. Joe Rodon: 9
Warrior of a defender who has been almost ever-present all season and often looked too good for Championship football. Iron-clad partnership with Ampadu formed the basis of a 15-game unbeaten run. Fans will pray for his return this summer. | Getty Images

5. Joel Piroe: 5
Leeds' marquee signing at £14m and arrived with high expectations. The 'flop' label is somewhat unfair for a forward who scored 13 league goals but Piroe himself has admitted there should have been more. Needs to secure a clear role in the team next season and will hope to improve with it. | Getty Images

6. Ilia Gruev: 7
£4m arrival took some time to break into the team, thanks mostly to the midfield presence of Ampadu, but grew into a pivotal aspect as the season went on. Offered defensive balance alongside Glen Kamara. Popped up with a brilliant goal - and even better celebration - in the play-off semi-final win over Norwich. | Getty Images
