Leeds United transfer news: Whites man won't leave this January as Marcelo Bielsa linked with double deal told to sign a striker

The longer the transfer window goes on, the more likely it is that head coach Marcelo Bielsa will let this month come and go without bringing in any new recruits.

That hasn’t stopped speculation from swirling though.

Alex McLeish believes Leeds need to sign another striker to try and relieve Patrick Bamford of some pressure.

Speaking to Football Insider, the former Rangers and Aston Villa said: "Yeah, of course, of course they do, absolutely.

"Look at Callum Wilson at Newcastle, okay, he’s played up with Andy Carroll and started together the other day there but Andy’s kind of in the last couple of years of his career, I would think, and definitely Bamford is also relied on too much."

Leeds were also keeping a close eye on a number of Wigan Athletic’s talented youngsters during the previous transfer window, including 17-year-old Sean McGurk.

The YEP understands Leeds made an enquiry about him again last week, but with his contract due to run out at the end of the current season, are unlikely to make a substantial bid before the January transfer window closes.
