Leeds United squad's stance on new-boy Tarik Muharemovic as March 'reminder' sent
Leeds United’s latest signing has met some of his new teammates already.
Leeds United captain Ethan Ampadu has no concerns over the ability of new signing and ‘great guy’ Tarik Muharemovic to fit in at Elland Road.
Muharemovic’s £34million move from Sassuolo was confirmed last week with the centre-back signing a five-year contract. He will replace Pascal Struijk at left-sided centre-back and is expected to join up with the USA-bound squad after his post-World Cup break.
That break was put on hold last week as the transfer was completed and Muharemovic got a chance to meet his new captain. The 23-year-old’s quality was never in doubt and the feeling is he’ll bed into a tight-knit squad with relative comfort.

“We played against him in March [for Wales vs Bosnia] which was a bit of a reminder,” Ampadu told BBC West Yorkshire Sport. “We could see his quality in that game, we could see the way fans and the club are talking about him.
“He’s a young player with a lot of quality and a lot of potential so it’s very good for us. We met him before he went away and he seems like a great guy as well so one that’s going to fit in really well. I think it’s quite easy to fit in well here.”
Ethan Ampadu’s promising Harry Wilson verdict
One new signing already getting used to life in West Yorkshire is Harry Wilson. The 29-year-old is two weeks into his Leeds career and was spotted in a recent training video released by the club working alongside his new teammates.
Wilson is anything but new for a handful of first-team squad members, with the winger regularly playing alongside Ampadu, Joe Rodon and Daniel James for Wales. He’s also a known quantity in the Premier League, with last season’s 10 goals and seven assists his best ever top-flight return.
“I think everyone saw more last year, maybe because he was coming towards the end of his contract which gets people talking about you in a different way,” Ampadu said of his fellow Welshman. “But his quality, his left foot, the way he works for the team and himself.
“I think all Leeds fans are going to really appreciate his hard work and the goals and assists he gets. It’s obviously very special and what helps results.”
