Leeds United return to Premier League action this weekend when they face Brighton and Hove Albion on the south coast. Daniel Farke’s side are unbeaten from three games across all competitions so far but return to the scene of one of last season’s most concerning performances.
The Whites won’t be that passive again but any improvement in performance will be enjoyed without Joe Rodon, with Farke confirming his Welsh warrior will be out for eight to 10 weeks with a hamstring injury. It’s a huge blow for Leeds but the return of Gabriel Gudmundsson from his own muscle injury is a big and well-timed boost.
Farke also confirmed deadline day signings Melvin Bard and Jean-Matteo Bahoya are both eligible to be in the squad. And with all that in mind, the YEP has attempted to predict how the Leeds boss could line up at Brighton.

7. CM: Ethan Ampadu
Skippers the side down south and could come up directly against Georginio Rutter, if the Frenchman is fit. Long throw will be useful if Leeds look to nick it by the odd goal. | Getty Images

8. CM: Anton Stach
The German hasn't hit the all-action heights of last season just yet but set-piece threat has been very useful. Scored the winner at Forest. | Getty Images

9. LWB: Gabriel Gudmundsson
A big boost for Leeds if Gudmundsson can return to the starting-XI, not least because it frees Justin up to cover for Rodon. Himself and Noah Okafor are so important to provide threat down the left. | Getty Images

10. RW: Harry Wilson
A surprise benching against Brentford but replaced the disappointing Brenden Aaronson at half-time. Needs to keep being played to build those relationships with new teammates. | Getty Images

11. LW: Noah Okafor
Deadline day signing Jean-Matteo will have to wait for his debut, with the left-wing spot still Okafor's to lose. Could have a lot of fun against Brighton's high line if he's on it. | Getty Images

12. ST: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Opened his account from predictably close range last weekend but will have another real physical challenge on his hands against Lewis Dunk and Luka Vuskovic. Could also end up scrapping with former teammate Pascal Struijk for those long balls. | Nigel French/PA Wire
