"Better than these guys" - Marc Guehi's Leeds United loss verdict, Palace declaration and Arsenal comparison

One of the best defenders in the league - Marc Guehi and his Crystal Palace side endured a night to forget against Leeds United at Elland Road.

Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi made an honest Leeds United admission after seeing his Eagles brushed aside at Elland Road with an Arsenal comparison and Whites praise.

Guehi’s side lined up for Saturday evening’s Premier League clash at fourth-bottom Leeds knowing that a victory would take them level on points with fourth-placed Chelsea yet the Eagles were bombarded by Daniel Farke’s side en route to a 4-1 defeat.

Speaking post-match to Sky Sports and as quoted by Crystal Palace’s official website, Guehi admitted Leeds were the better side who fully deserved their victory in which United “won every duel” and “wanted it more”.

Palace now face a quick return to action with Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup quarter-final at Arsenal - a side Guehi has claimed are better than Leeds at set pieces.

“Disappointed, but it is definitely deserved”

Defeat at Leeds came just two days after the side’s 2-2 draw at home to KPS in the Europa Conference League but Guehi refused to use the busy schedule as an excuse.

Guehi said: “Everyone is disappointed, but it is definitely deserved.

“Leeds were the better side. They won every duel, every second ball. They won every first contact, every second contact and in the Premier League, or in any football game, that will cost you.

"They won every duel, they wanted it more, and they were more physical. Credit to them. We need to learn from it.”

Guehi added: “We will play a team [Arsenal] who are better than these guys [Leeds] at set pieces, so if we can defend better and contain them hopefully in our low block, and spring a counter-attack, then it will be good for us.

“But again, it is another tough game so we have to learn quickly and move on.

“I don't think you guys should give us an excuse, because we aren't giving ourselves an excuse.

“We'll recover quickly and go again."
