'Never forgotten': Leeds United fans to unite for deeply touching tribute at Elland Road
The touching tribute to Leeds United fans ahead of first match at Elland Road
It will be a poignant moment of togetherness at Elland Road ahead of the first match of the season as Leeds United supporters unite to remember members of the club’s family who have sadly passed away over the last year.
Ahead of kick-off against Brentford, the names of loved ones, family and friends will be shown on the big screen before players from both sides line up around the centre circle for a minute of applause.
For a few special moments, the football will take a back seat as thousands of voices and hands come together in memory of those who will always remain part of the Leeds United family.
Leeds face Brentford in the Premier League on Sunday, August 20, and fans have until 12pm on Wednesday, August 26, to submit the names they would like to be displayed.
Once Leeds United and Brentford take to the field on Sunday, the minute of applause will begin and end on the referee’s whistle, with both sides lined up around the centre-circle.
