Daniel Farke on fresh Leeds United Mykhailo Mudryk reports, squad view and more signings stance
Leeds United boss Daniel Farke on reports of a second rejected Leeds United bid for Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk.
Daniel Farke will not comment on speculation of a second rejected Leeds United offer for Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk, admitting only that the Ukraine winger is a very good player and that he would like to strengthen the squad if possible.
Reports emerged ahead of United’s first game of the new Premier League season at Nottingham Forest on Saturday that Leeds were interested in Chelsea winger Mudryk and looking at the possibility of signing the 25-year-old on loan.
It was then reported that an initial approach had been rejected but that talks were expected to continue and that Leeds were lining up another offer.
As Farke prepared to speak to the press ahead of Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup tie at Nottingham Forest, further reports claimed that a second offer had been rejected.
Farke, though, is maintaining his stance of not commenting on other clubs’ players, admitting that Mudryk was “no doubt a really good player” but wary of “many noises” always surrounding Leeds United in any transfer window.
At Monday’s pre-Forest press conference, Farke was asked about Mudryk and the reports that a second offer had been rejected.
Asked if he could give any updates, Farke said: "There are always many noises around, especially around Leeds United.
"I get the feeling also that each and every agent also tries to use our name sometimes anyhow, in order to speak about this player because Leeds is a very big club and well known club and passionate club and sometimes we are linked with players I have never heard of the name.
"There's no doubt about him, he's a really good player”
"Of course I know Mudryk. There's no doubt about him, he's a really good player.
“But like I always say I never comment on any speculation or any other players who are playing currently for other teams so no components from me in public about this topic.
“I would also expect no one from other clubs to comment about my players anyhow so out of respect, I will never give any comments about players who are currently playing for other clubs and no comments on speculation."
Pressed if he would still like further signings before next Tuesday night’s summer transfer window deadline, Farke said: “We've made no secret out of this that we want to give this club the best possible squad, and for that, yes, to the last second more or less we stay awake.
“We'll just do things that we want to do and we are also of course ambitious”
"We work with also limited resources because we want to work sustainable, we've proven this last season. It was not like overspending in areas also during this season transfer window.
"I think I'm pretty happy with our business so far. But it's not like we have spent like some other clubs anyhow so we want to make sure that we don't just gamble on one season, we want to work sustainable and make sure that also the finances of this club are also in the right place, not just for a few months, also for a few years, and hopefully for many, many years and important years to come.
“For that, we'll just do things that we want to do and we are also of course ambitious.
"But also we say come on it makes sense for this reason to do a financial deal and for that if there is a possibility we would like to add yes."
