Pundit makes claim about Leeds United fans' view on Daniel Farke
Leeds United boosted their bid to avoid relegation from the Premier League with a 3-1 win against Chelsea on Wednesday night.
Leeds United supporters remain unconvinced Daniel Farke can keep the Whites in the Premier League this season despite Wednesday night’s impressive win against Chelsea.
That was the verdict of former Aston Villa striker Darren Bent as he assessed the German’s future at Elland Road ahead of Saturday’s home clash with Liverpool. After producing a much-improved second-half display during last weekend’s defeat at title contenders Manchester City, the Whites were able to take some momentum into their midweek meeting with Chelsea and were at it from the off as they claimed what could be a massive three points in the battle to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.
Summer signing Jaka Bijol set the tone as his well-taken header fired the Whites in front with just six minutes on the clock and that lead was doubled just two minutes before half-time thanks to a powerful drive from Japan international Ao Tanaka. Pedro Neto got the visitors back into the contest five minutes after the restart but an error from Blues goalkeeper Robert Sanchez allowed Whites striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin to restore his side’s two-goal advantage with just under 20 minutes remaining and that was enough to hand what could be an invaluable three points to Farke’s men.
The win was particularly well-timed for Farke after speculation over the Whites manager’s future had continued to increase in recent weeks following a number of underwhelming results and performances. There had been talk some of the pressure had been eased on the former Norwich City boss - but pundit Bent believes Leeds supporters remain unconvinced he can guide his side to a successful battle against relegation this season.
Convinced

When asked if the win against Chelsea would ease the pressure on the Whites boss, former Sunderland and England striker Bent told talkSPORT: “No, not really. I think it’s a huge result. Fair play to Daniel Farke because he got promoted with Norwich, terrible, and went back down. Now he’s got back there with Leeds, they’re struggling. They’ve got a couple of good results, but are struggling. That result, of course, will please the fans and the owners and supporters and, yeah, it’s a feel-good factor. But it’s how do Leeds back that up?
“Because they’ve beaten Chelsea, fair play. Now we’ve got Liverpool. Liverpool’s the next one they’ve got. That’s at home. You never know, then Brentford away. But I still don’t think their supporters are convinced. One result can’t convince you that he’s the right man.”
