Self-critical Leeds United star lifts lid on dressing room mood after 'sleepy' Crystal Palace performance

Leeds United weren’t at their free-flowing best but defended well to extend their Premier League unbeaten run on Sunday.

Tarik Muharemovic singled himself out as part of a ‘sleepy’ Leeds United performance but took a point against Crystal Palace to keep the Premier League unbeaten start alive.

Leeds head into the extended international break five unbeaten in the league following Sunday’s 0-0 draw at Elland Road. The game was a stark contrast to the electric 4-1 win over Newcastle United earlier in the week, with Daniel Farke’s side unable to click in the final third.

The Whites boss labelled his side ‘a bit too slow in the head’ going forward and there were uncharacteristic mistakes in possession from a number of players. Muharemovic didn’t shy away from his own errors but understands such games can happen in the Premier League.

“We can always be happy with a point,” he told the YEP. “We're unbeaten in the Premier League and go unbeaten into the international break. We know it would be always better to get all three points but this is how it is, we take the point.

“On Monday we managed to control the whole game. Today it was like on both sides, a lot of ball losses that were not necessary… We were a bit sleepy, not controlling the game, making weird passes, not the passes we normally do.

“Also the control of the passes. Sometimes also me, when the ball went through my legs, things that hadn’t happened before but we know not every game can be perfect.

“We can do much better, but obviously also games like this happen. We know how hard the Premier League is and we know how good Crystal Palace is, so I think we can take the point and be happy.”

Farke echoed that point of being off the pace in his own post-match comments and ultimately took a point against what he labelled a solid Palace side. Muharemovic went on to detail how the Leeds boss shaped the result inside the dressing room.

“Obviously, he said that he's proud of us and that we can be proud of ourselves, still being unbeaten in the Premier League,” the Whites defender added. “I know I said it a lot of times, but to be honest, it's I think not a small thing to be unbeaten in the Premier League after six games.

“I'm really happy that we still keep playing like this and getting points. Obviously, it would always be better to get three points. But as I said, games like this happen. We'll keep going on the best days and the worst days. We'll be all together and just to reach our goals.”
