Leeds United suffer first-half injury blow vs Brentford as Daniel Farke favourite forced off

The incident happened during the first-half of Sunday’s Elland Road clash.

Leeds United were handed a fresh injury concern against Brentford with Joe Rodon forced off in the first half.

Rodon was forced off on the half-hour mark after chasing down a ball in behind to clear for a throw-in. The centre-back immediately felt his left hamstring before going to ground.

The Leeds medical staff briefly assessed Rodon on the pitch before he was replaced by Nico Elvedi. The Welshman could be seen trudging around the outside of the pitch before having a brief chat with manager Daniel Farke.

The score was level at 0-0 when Rodon went off, with Brentford taking the lead a few minutes later. Leeds failed with multiple attempts to clear before Keane Lewis-Potter’s cross was stabbed home by Kevin Schade.

Farke had boasted a near clean bill of health for his squad ahead of Sunday’s game, with Gabriel Gudmundsson and Willy Gnonto both returning from muscle injuries. But Rodon’s fresh issue is a new blow for the Whites.

Depending on the severity of the injury, Leeds now have just three fit senior centre-backs, with no available cover. The summer transfer window shuts at 11pm on Tuesday.
