Lee Dixon highlights 'frightening' Leeds United advantage for second season back in Premier League
LEE Dixon has paid Leeds United's famous Elland Road home the ultimate compliment in reflecting on the grounds experienced during his own career.
Former Arsenal and England right back Dixon watched on at Brighton's Amex Stadium on Saturday as part of Amazon Prime Video's coverage of the Premier League clash between the Seagulls and Marcelo Bielsa's Whites.
Dixon was disappointed with United's display in a 2-0 defeat but said Leeds can already be proud of their efforts upon their top-flight return, safe in the knowledge that a huge boost will await in the 2021-22 campaign.
United's first season back in the country's top tier has been played out amidst the country's ongoing battle against coronavirus meaning empty stands at Elland Road but - with restrictions lifting - that is about to change.
"Do you know what's going to happen next year as well?" said Dixon.
"Hopefully fans are going to be back at Elland Road - the loudest ground I have ever played at.
"Home and away, abroad, ask me, loudest ground? Elland Road, the acoustics there are frightening, you can't hear yourself speak. You can't hear your partner talking to you.
"Mind you, sometimes with Martin Keown in my ear, I was quite pleased with that."
