Jesse Marsch press conference live: Leeds United injury updates, transfers and Nottingham Forest

Key Events

  • Injury update
  • Rodrigo injury
  • What happened with Harrison?
  • Is McKennie ready?

JM: “Yes, so first of all, Weston is a competitor. he believes in himself. he has incredible flexibility, and he can play almost any position on the pitch. he has real quality.

“At Schalke, they did things the way I like to do it. He has been outstanding in training, he is fit and he is ready. He is in consideration to start, and certainly in the squad.”

How is Patrick Bamford?

JM: “The fact that Patrick is in the best shape in a year and a half is the most important talking point. If he feels good physically, he is a natural goalscorer. He missed chances earlier in the season, but part of that is that he wasn’t right physically.

“We can use Georgie (Rutter) up front, and they can play together as well.”

Diego Llorente’s exit

JM: “Honestly, Diego wasn’t so easy. It leaves us a little bit thin in the back, but Diego felt there were things in his personal life where he needed a change. We had a good discussion, and in the end, Victor and I gave the OK knowing Diego needed it for his personal life.”

JM: “Diogo, is he ready to replace Diego? Probably not, but he can continue to work towards it. We feel we can push him for bigger challenges in the next couple of months.”

Summerville, Cooper, Pascal? Are they all fit?

JM: “They are all back and ready for Sunday.”

JM: “I saw Jurgen Klopp’s response that he needed to have a lawyer, and maybe I should respond the same, I need Jurgen’s lawyer as well. Listen, when teams have the resources to make big transfers, that’s a benefit to them and their club.

“I’m concentrating on us, and I am thankful that we have a vision and that we are committed to putting that vision into place. We have had two very, very succesful transfer windows, and there is no question that our club is in a stronger place than a year ago.”

Happy with the faith the club has shown?

JM: “I’ve never felt more supported. The responsibility falls on me, on the staff. We are ont he right path. i have been saying that for weeks. Our transfers over the last two windows have been great, and I think we are developing a team our fans will be proud of.I am excited because I can see the team we can become.”
