Ajax 3-1 Leeds United XI - recap: Whites fall to opening friendly defeat in Amsterdam

KICK-OFF
1. And we’re underway in Amsterdam. Kalvin has the number eight on this afternoon which suggest he’ll play a little further forward.
Leeds on the ball
3. United trying to get the ball down and play. Kenneh with a stray pass which goes out of play. Roberts leading the line with Greenwood and Phillips as a 10 and 8 behind, it seems. Forshaw playing as the 4.
Leeds attack
4. A nice little move from Leeds - the first of the afternoon. Greenwood bursts through and Cooper tries to find him with a pass in behind but it’s a little overhit.
LEEDS CHANCE
5. Cooper makes a run down the left and stands up a lovely ball to the back post. Roberts tries to volley on the full and a defender blocks behind. Corner ball.
Corner cleared
6. Ajax nod the corner away and Costa tries to find Phillips on the edge of the box. Good defending and Ajax win themselves a throw.
LEEDS CHANCE
8. Leeds started the better. Nice move opens up Ajax at the back and Poveda forces a save. Cooper again with the low ball through after some nice link up play in the middle between Roberts and Forshaw.
Leeds defend
10. First real attack from the hosts. Ajax get down the right. A brilliant tackle from Kenneh as Ajax get into the box. Moore with a good clearing header a little earlier too.
Busy start
12. Costa and Drameh link up well down the right but the former is eventually crowded out after some good skill. A good test for Leeds, this. Both teams trying to build out from the back. United trying to press high.
