Moss, who is based in Leeds, officiated the game in between his Premier League fixture at Anfield and the game between MK Dons and Chelsea in The FA Cup.

In heavy conditions there was little to choose between the sides and few chances but the game was decided 10 minutes from time when Brentwood were awarded a penalty which Charlie Clayden slotted home coolly to the disappointment of the large home crowd.

Mike Greenwood, council member of West Riding County FA, was Moss’s assistant for the game, and said: “It’s great to see Jon supporting local football, and it really helped make the game a prestige occasion”

Girls from the South Asian Community in Bradford have been paid a visit by West Riding County FA and Bradford City Women’s FC.

The girls-only football sessions at the BEAP sports centre, Manninngham, have been taking place for only a few months, but are already proving to be a huge success.

Focusing on providing an enjoyable and engaging experience, the sessions are indoors and incorporate an optional ‘healthy living’ classroom session for participants.

Coaching is led by local volunteer Rukshana Jannat, who was supported through her Level 1 coaching qualification by the football club.
