The Tewits captain showed his prowess with the ball in claiming 3-20 as Barnsley were all out for just 107 – Tom Chippendale taking 3-33.

Just for good measure, ex-Yorkshire player Fellows followed up with a 42-ball unbeaten 53 to secure victory over the Shaw Laners.

He was well supported by Joe Fraser (35) as Heaton sauntered to victory in under 14 overs.

There were wins for Townville and Spen Victoria in the Championship B action on Saturday, which was seriously affected by the weather.

On-song Jack Hughes took a magic 5-7 in an unplayable nine-over stint as Townville defied the weather to secure a big 117-run triumph over Brighouse, skittled out for 48.

High-flying Townville had opened with 165-7, with Hughes top-scoring with 42, well supported by Aussie Matthew Bremner (33).

Spen piled on the woe for derby rivals Hartshead Moor, whose poor start to the season continued.

New Zealander Nic Montgomery made an unbeaten 86 and shared a second-wicket stand of 132 with skipper Ollie Davison (50), as Spen Victoria overhauled Moor’s score of 152-6.

Defeat was tough on Moor opener Craig Field, who hit an excellent unbeaten 80 – Brad Davis taking 3-35.

Action in a weather-ravaged Championship A programme on Saturday saw Liversedge go down by 40 runs to Idle in the only definitive result of the day.

Idle top-order man Mohammed Rafiq blasted a fine unbeaten 98 in the reduced 30-over a side contest as the Bradford side made 141-5.

A fabulous knock of 116 not out from Aussie Chris Anderson enabled Hunslet Nelson to reach 167-7 at Saltaire, who ended at 24-2 in reply before the weather intervened.

The elements also left leaders Batley hamstrung in their quest for a fifth successive win, which looked likely until the rains came.

Batley were well set at 120-5 in reply to Yeadon’s opening salvo of 146-9, with Tariq Mehboob (37) top-scoring with Scott Price having earlier hit 36 for Yeadon.
