Magnanimous photos take you back to Leeds in March 1996

It proved to be a very newsy 31 days in the life of your Leeds in the early spring of 1996.

The main photo shows CAMRA member Gary Whiting serving at Leeds Cider, Beer and Perry Festival staged at Pudsey Civic Hall with half his beard shaved off in March 1996. He was raising money for a hospice near his Mirfield home at the time. It was a month which also saw the Royal Armouries Museum open and the first new hackney cab design in the UK for 10 years - allowing able bodied and wheelchair users to travel together - on the city’s roads after receiving its license from Leeds City Council.
