1992 was the year Harry Ramsden’s fish and chips restaurant turned 60 in the summer with Lewis’s department store on The Headrow celebrating the same milestone in the autumn. It was also a 12 months which saw hundreds of thousands of people join the party in the city centre as a civic reception was held for Leeds United after they won the Division 1 title. This gallery charts the year in photos and includes memories from around the suburbs with Bramley, Meanwood, Yeadon, Richmond Hill Holbeck, Belle Isle, Woodhouse and Seacroft all in focus. The images are a mix from the YEP archive and others published courtesy of photographic archive Leodis, which is run by Leeds Library & Information Service. They also run heritage blog The Secret Library Leeds, which provides a behind the scenes look at the Central Library and highlights from its special collections, including rare books hidden away in the stacks.
