Young writer’s Leeds visit is lesson in inspiration

A talented young writer, who penned her first book when she was just 16 despite battling ME, inspired Otley pupils when she shared her experiences.

Lucy Saxon, author of Take Back the Skies and The Almost King, visited Prince Henry’s Grammar School and spoke honestly about the journey that led her to write.

Diagnosed with ME – Myalgic Encephalomyelitis – at the age of 12, she struggled with chronic fatigue through her teenage years but found solace in writing, penning the first draft of Take Back the Skies in just 3 weeks.

Annie Cunniffe, English Faculty Leader, said pupils were enthused by Lucy’s visit – asking questions and getting books signed.
