Leeds Council owned sports pitches will be closed this weekend due to severe weather. SWNS.

A spokeswoman for the council said: "Unfortunately due to ongoing severe weather conditions, all Leeds City Council sports pitches will be closed this weekend."

There is a yellow weather warning for rain in place across the city on Friday, February 21 and Saturday 22.

The Met Office said: "It will be very windy on Friday with outbreaks of rain.

"Often windy with further outbreaks of showery rain Saturday and Sunday.

"Some overnight frosts."

The pitch closures follow the bad weather experienced during Storm Dennis last weekend and Storm Ciara the weekend before.
