City's Covid infection rate still higher than national average as people warned to keep distance

People in Leeds have been urged to keep to social distancing guidelines and the rule of six as the city’s coronavirus infection rate remains above average.

The daily infection rate has remained stable, falling slightly to 43.9 new cases per 100,000 people (from 45.8).

But that’s still significantly higher than the average rate in England, which stands at 24.5.

Leeds City Council’s chief executive Tom Riordan tweeted that 50 per cent of Leeds adults have now been vaccinated, with the over 60s case rate down to 13.
