Leeds City Council bin dates: Collections cancelled for second day due to heavy snow

Leeds City Council has cancelled all its bin collections today (Friday) due to the heavy snow.

Snow covered Leeds on Thursday leaving treacherous conditions on many residential streets across the city.

Crews have now been stood down for the second day due to icy conditions on roads and paths.

Residents who didn’t get their bins emptied today or on Thursday are advised to put their bins out again for a planned Sunday collection.

The council said crews will try to collect as many missed bins as possible.

Household Waste Recycling Centres will also remain closed today, after shutting early yesterday as snow began to fall.

Residents with slots booked today are advised to rebook for a later date.

In a statement, the council said: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused but the decision has been made in the interests of customer and staff safety and also following police travel advice. "
