Work complete after months of renovation on M62 near Leeds as lane reopens

A lane closure has been in place since early November on the M62 at J27 as work was carried out on "existing barriers on the bridges and both their approaches and departures to improve safety and reliability for road users".

Highways Yorkshire said they were due to start the work on Monday 16 November 2020 and expect to complete the work by the end of January 2021 weather and circumstances permitting.

In the announcement, Highways Yorkshire said: "We’ll need to close lane one of the four lane motorway between junction 26 and junction 27 while we carry out the work. We’ll carry out work on the eastbound carriageway first followed by the westbound.

"We’re installing a temporary safety barrier on the bridge deck for safety to protect our operatives and road users, these will be in place until the work is complete.

"To install and remove the temporary barrier we’ll need to close the eastbound M62 entry slip road overnight at junction 27 and close lanes on the M621 link road running underneath the bridges to prevent debris from falling onto the roads below.

"During the work we’ll need to use temporary traffic signals overnight for alternate carriageway closures on Moor Lane.

"Closing lane one of the motorway at this location may increase travel time, especially during rush hour commute so please plan your journey ahead."

The work has now been complete on the Eastbound carriageway, they said.

Work on the Westbound side is due to be completed over the next few weeks.

Highways Yorkshire tweeted: "Work has now completed on the #M62 J27 eastbound carriageway & the lane closure has been removed.

"The westbound work is due to be complete over the next few weeks."
