Clay Pit Lane closure in Leeds extended to weekend as emergency repairs delayed again

Emergency repair work on Clay Pit Lane has been extended into a fifth day of disruption.

The major city centre route, near the First Direct Arena, was first closed on Sunday after a building was damaged by high winds.

The road was expected to reopen by Monday afternoon, but due to further winds contractors were unable to carry out repairs on the building on Monday.

Workers remain at the site today and Leeds City Council's emergency Twitter account says the road will now remain closed until Friday afternoon.

It is the third time the closure has been extended.

The road is closed to all vehicles and pedestrians from the A64 to Woodhouse Lane, near to the First Direct Arena.

X7 buses are diverting via Inner Ring Road, Westgate then onto The Headrow and First Bus has reported delays of up to an hour on some journeys.
