Woman left fighting for life after hit-and-run crash near Aagrah restaurant in Wakefield
A woman is fighting for life after a hit-and-run crash near the Aagrah restaurant in Wakefield.
Police are appealing for any witnesses or footage of the serious road traffic collision on the A61 Barnsley Road, Wakefield at around 5.53pm last night (Tuesday, January 20), which involved a silver Maxus Deliver 9 van and a pedestrian.

The collision happened near the Aagrah restaurant, with the van then failing to stop at the scene. The pedestrian, a 40-year-old woman, was taken to hospital where her condition is described as critical.
Detective Inspector Paul Conroy from the Major Collision Enquiry Team said: “We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen this collision or has access to CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage from the area which may help with the investigation.
“We know that the area was busy, but people may not have realised the seriousness of what had happened at the time because the pedestrian initially tried to walk with the aid of a member of the public.
“I am appealing to anyone who might have any relevant footage or who saw the van being driven in the time before or after the collision to contact us.”
A 43-year-old man was arrested earlier this morning on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Anyone who witnessed or has footage of the incident is asked to contact West Yorkshire Police online via the 101LiveChat or by calling 101 quoting log 1406 of January 20. Alternatively, call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
