The footage, captured by Leeds Council's Connecting Leeds, shows the road's foundations being taken apart and rebuilt as part of a £20m transport scheme.
Workers are currently digging out the central reservation along The Headrow, installing underground pipes which will transfer energy from waste processed at the RERF incinerator near Cross Green.
This will eventually provide low carbon heat and hot water for businesses and homes in Leeds.
The £20m transport scheme promises transform the city centre into world-class gateways for bus users, pedestrians and cyclists.
Construction on The Headrow is the first stage of the scheme and is set to be completed by autumn 2020.
