Selby Road (A63) is shut from Ninelands Lane to Ledgett Lane due to the serious burst water pipe and there is danger of the road buckling.

Garforth and Swillington Councillor Mark Dobson posted a message to residents warning them to avoid the area.

He said: "Just had a call from West Yorkshire Police. They have had to shut Selby Road (the A63) from Ninelands Lane to Lidgett Lane due to a serious burst water pipe.

"The water pressure is currently pushing the jet higher than the lampposts and there is danger of buckling the road.

"In addition you may notice your water pressure has been reduced. Please share widely and try and avoid this area if at all possible."

Yorkshire Water and West Yorkshire Police are currently at the scene working to fix the burst pipe.

It is not yet known how long the road will be closed but Leeds East Neighborhood Policing Team has warned drivers to expect delays.
