1. Arctic Monkeys 2005

Yorkshire’s very own Arctic Monkeys returned home as one of top performers of the 2005 Leeds Festival. The band took the stage to perform their hit single I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor and Yorkshire pride was overflowing. Big up Sheffield.

It’s never a good thing when bands get bottled off stage. But some may say bottling is a tradition at the Leeds and Reading festival, especially when fans realize they’ve been duped. In 2008, the Foo Fighters were rumoured to take the stage after the lineup included a band named The FF’ers who many assumed was a pseudonym for the band. The unsigned band then took the stage at Reading and was later bottled off stage by angry fans.

3. Metallica 2015

Last year Metallica took the mainstage as the headlining act drawing the biggest crowd and loudest roars. The band kept the crowd riled up from start to finish and ended with a bang with their performance to of Enter Sandman to close out the show.

4. Kendrick Lamar’s Leeds debut

In 2015, with his first Leeds performance ever, Kendrick Lamar had some of the loudest fans of the night as he performed his hits. Lamar said the reaction was the loudest he had heard so far while on tour.

5. Toiletgate

Although Charlotte Taylor would not consider this a top moment of the festival or of her life really, the then 19-year-old made headlines during her time at Leeds Festival after she was stuck in a portable toilet for twenty minutes. Taylor had reached into the toilet after dropping her bag and soon realised she could not get out. She was soon rescued and the story spread around the festival and was the talk of the weekend.
