The heavy rain and blustery conditions are set to subside in Leeds this afternoon, as the worst of Storm Diana passes to make way for some sunny spells.

Rain showers are forecast to continue until midday, with the wet weather becoming lighter after 9am, although the windy conditions will remain for a time, mainly in the east.

The weather is forecast to brighten this afternoon, with some sunny intervals after 2pm

The afternoon will bring some brighter spells from 2pm, but it will remain partially cloudy before clearing up in the early evening.

The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for Leeds, between the hours of 3am and 2pm, alerting of ‘very strong and disruptive winds’.

After 2pm, the rest of the afternoon looks set to brighten with some sunny intervals, but it will remain partially cloudy before clearing up in the early evening.

The weather on Friday will greatly improve, as forecasters predict some sunny spells in the morning through to mid-afternoon.

However, temperatures will be slightly cooler at a maximum of 8C and patches of frost can be expected heading into the night.

Saturday will remain mostly dry, although the cloud is forecast to thicken and there may be some rain showers later in the day.
