Plans for new block of flats in west Leeds

Nine new flats could be built if the council agrees to the demolition of a building in Wortley.

Planning permission is sought for the redevelopment of a disused site at 96 Blue Hill Lane.

An existing detached house would be knocked down to make way for one and two-bedroom apartments.

A design report by Wilson Architects said: “All apartments are proposed as open market housing, aimed at single occupants and couples seeking high-quality starter homes within an established residential area.”

People living in the development would be close to shops, transport links and schools, the report said.

It said: “Residents benefit from access to nearby public green spaces such as Farnley Hall Park and Bramley Park, both within a short drive or cycle distance.

“The area’s residential character, mature trees and proximity to open space contribute to a pleasant suburban environment.”

Leeds City Council is considering a full planning application for the scheme, which includes parking spaces, cycle storage and a shared garden.
