Tributes paid to 19-year-old motorcyclist killed in Leeds crash as he is named locally

The 19-year-old was riding a white Aprilla motorcycle on Paradise Way, next to the A1(M) on Friday afternoon when he collided with a Toyota pick-up truck.

West Yorkshire Police said the cyclist was treated by ambulance staff but sadly pronounced dead shortly later.

His family have been notified and are being supported by specially-trained family liaison officers, police added.

Tributes to Luke have been paid online by those who knew him.

Leeds Motocross Ltd, where Luke was known to staff, posted a short tribute to the keen motorcyclist on their Facebook page.

The motorcycle repair centre, based in Seacroft, wrote: "Thoughts this morning are with the friends and family of Luke Deegan...local lad who sadly passed away last night after a motorbike accident.

"Rest in paradise mate".

Abbie Robinson commented: "Rest in paradise, you beautiful soul, my dear forever friend".

Friends of Luke commented that he had been an experienced motorcyclist despite his age, while others left their well-wishes for his family and friends.

Rebecca Woodhouse wrote: "Absolutely devastating for those left behind...just heartbreaking."

Ryan Kirk described Luke as "a good lad", while Maria Mort said he was "too young to be taken".

West Yorkshire Police is continuing to appeal for any witnesses to Friday's tragic crash.
